We now offer an exciting leadership opportunity as Associate Director for the Combination Product & Packaging Technologyteam within Manufacturing Science & Technology, at Sweden Biomanufacturing Center (SBC)located in Södertälje.

Business Area 

Manufacturing Science & Technology (MS&T) at SBCis responsible for Tech transfer of new products into SBC as well as Product Maintenance. We ensure reliable and flexible formulation, filling, visual inspection, device assembly, bulk and final packaging of late stage clinical and commercial products. MS&T also provides expert technical support for AstraZeneca’s commercialproducts. MS&T works closely with other teams and functions at SBC and around our global network.

As part of the mentioned deliverables MS&T plays a key strategic role for future of the site. To deliver on this strategy, MS&Tconsists of two technical groups with one of these beingCombination Product & Packaging Technology.

What you will do

As Associate Director Combination Product & Packaging Technology, you will lead and inspire a diverse team of technical experts, fostering innovation and collaboration. You will set strategic direction, promote a culture of continuous improvement, and drive operational excellence by ensuring effective execution of transfer projects, lifecycle activities, and technical problem-solving. The role requires strong stakeholder engagement, people development, and proactive communication across internal and external interfaces.

The Combination Product & Packaging Technology team drives design transfer and implementation of combination products and packaging solutions at SBC, establishes and optimizes control strategies for assembly and packaging. In addition, the team manages product lifecycle activities, ensures compliance and continuous improvement, and serves as subject matter experts within technology transfer, design transfer and packaging process development.The team contributes toinvestment projects, and implements and maintains site-specific packaging formats.

The teamworks cross-functionally at site and interacts with the global MS&T/Global Tech Ops within Biologics operations as well as with R&D, Regulatory, Quality and other global functions.

The position includes responsibility for personnel, budget, SHE and securing that work is performed according to GMP and other applicable laws and regulations. You will be a member of the MS&T leadership team.

Essential Requirements

  • MSc (or equivalent) in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Pharmacy, or a related field

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in biopharma/pharmaceutical manufacturing, GMP compliance, and late-stage product process development

  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills with proven success in team management and development

  • Experience with technology and design transfers in a cross-functional, global setting

  • Full proficiency in Swedish and English, both written and spoken

Desired requirements

  • Ability to provide scientific input in combination products, medical devices, packaging, technology/design transfer, and control strategy

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for aseptic parenteral products and combination products

  • Understanding of product life cycle management principles

  • Familiarity with Lean principles and practices
